“I was hiking through the hills of Sapa in Vietnam on my way to Tavan Village, my Leica loaded with a roll of Kodak Tri X. I stopped for a break when I came across these young girls sitting on a bench overlooking the rice fields. As I was about to leave and head further up the hill, the children picked up an old broken umbrella and started to play with it, and thats when I made this image. It reminded me about making the most of what you have. These children seemed to have very little, but despite this they could still find joy and happiness in this moment with that old broken umbrella.”
